Born and raised in New York City, José Acevedo bought his first home in Jersey City in 2013 and has since remained in Hudson County. The Washington Heights native began his professional career as a Recreational Therapist in pediatric oncology/hematology for 15 years before making the switch to academia – where he taught Recreational Therapy as an Assistant Professor within the City University of New York for several years.
